The Power of Conversation

I don't know about you, but when I have things on my mind, I find it such a relief to express those thoughts to a friend or family member.  That's not to say that I'm good at following that advice, but in those rare moments when I have clarity, I realize that it helps me greatly to speak with somebody else about things I'm thinking.

Of course the thought creeps in my mind that I'm crazy for feeling or thinking a certain way but for the most part, I'm not.  I come to find that what I'm thinking about a given situation, others out there are also going through the same thing, having similar thoughts and opinions.  It's like when you were in school and the teacher said, "If you have a question, don't be ashamed to ask because other students probably have the same one."  Same thing here.  Believe me, you are not alone.

What's the point?  The point is that when you have things on your mind - good, bad or otherwise - talk with somebody about them.  It will make you feel better, will strengthen the relationship with the person you've confided in and help to clear your mind.

Conversation is a beautiful thing.  Take the time to have one with somebody close to you today!

  1. I totally agree! Nothing worse than keeping something inside because you think you're the only one...only to find out many people feel the same way! Of course there have been times when I probably shouldn't hae said what I was thnking, so maybe just think before you speak is a good rule?
